My personal interpretation is that Soohyun's button is a representation of his feelings towards Soohyun.

I remember his question:
"Wait, what is 'this'? How long have I been holding onto 'this'?" in Chapter 34.
If you think about it that way, it's quite literal.

So, when he threw Soohyun's button, it means he gave up his own feelings and is no longer holding onto them. This happens right after he realizes that Soohyun has already settled and is content with his own life.

It's only my interpretation, so it is subjective. There are a lot of ways to interpret it.

I personally couldn't tell..maybe it's due to Eunsung's nature.
So it is very subtle.

This ML's character design gives me a gentle-prince-like vibe. The typical that I like when it comes to ML character designs in general.
