some people in the comments are saying that marie isnt trying hard enough to hide. i understand her though because if i had the ability to change the outcome of a bad situation i would use it. marie just has bad luck and keeps finding herself in these situations where she has no choice but to help. for example, her friend has been put in a jail cell for something she didn’t do which is dangerous because the prince is known to be ruthless. and even if he seems like a pretty nice guy right now, marie doesn’t know him well and hasn’t seen the parts of him that we readers know. to her, he is simply someone trying to get rid of her (she doesn’t know that he wants to marry her, he overthrew a freaking palace people and killed countless others. he also hides his face with a mask which is suspicious honestly). pretty much the only things she knows about him is that he was looking for her in midst of the chaos and he overthrew the palace she lived in. i think that he killed everyone but her actually. i would be afraid too. it is realistic that she talks about her fears and doesn’t automatically go to him. it will take their relationship a while to progress. one more example of a situation marie couldn’t turn away from is when she had to give cpr to the guy with the illness. if you had the ability, would you not help him? same with the music and the statue. they would be punished for not doing their job right if not for her.

and separate to what i was discussing previously, i believe that the 10th prince started the fire. remember when she showed him magic tricks and he said he was going to practice and it was suggested he might even show her something better since they had a bet? it was probably an accident though maybe he tried to do a trick with the candle and it fell. when he saw the fire happen he probably ran away. it would make sense he didn’t tell anyone because no one respects him currently. if he tells anyone they will probably lose respect for him further and think he shouldve died since he shouldve died before.
