He’s just like a breath of fresh air! Idk I just LOVE LOVE LOVE piece of shit asshole dumbass protags, they’re just so raw and so HUMAN and at the same time so incredibly stupid you can’t believe they’re real but believe ME people like him exist. I love the dynamics between him and the normal, functional person that is the professor’s son. Characters like him or the characters in Hate Mate give me such a satisfied feeling in my heart and honestly it’s so much more interesting to follow their perspectives/shenanigans bc of how unbelievably stupid and useless they are, it’s kind of a catharsis. So much easier for me to stomach than sugary sweet Sunshine Rainbows Happiness or angsty edgy trauma Mysterious Dark Past or just Rape, this feels like a nice hearty meal
The whole POINT of stories like this is for everything to be a mess. You’re a mess, she’s a mess, he’s a mess, everything’s a mess, at least from the POV of the protagonist and that’s ok bc thats just how life IS for him, he’s a mess! He’s literally only alive because of how pretty he is! He’s hanging on by a thread and he doesn’t even care and god it’s just so hilarious to me the kinds of things and situations he’s allowed to get into BECAUSE the story’s structured like this. He is a mess and he’s always been a mess and he most likely always will, and that’s what makes him so great.
