I just realised, I don't think a company would let someone resign so easily when he's literally the main suspect of jeopardising and ruining the most important match for a world champion.
Up until that point of Potato getting into a fight and coming into the room to tell the truth to everyone, didn't everyone in the team believed Dan to be a traitor? Afterall, it happened right in front of their very eyes.
We as readers know Dan in totally innocent but the company doesn't have any reason to give Dan the benefit of the doubt just because he's been a good person. Realistically an investigation would've taken place and Dan would be brought in for interrogation. He wouldn’t be able to resign and leave so easily, no? Atleast not untill the Potato incident.
