They thoght it might be a miracle as there’re already miracles happened before in the Frost family (Alice is a female alpha but she can get pregnant or Nick turned into an omega and get pregnant with twin, one of them is dominant alpha). Besides Karlyle’s cravings and morning sickness happened after their honeymoon and his symptoms were similar with Alice (he ate fig pie which is sweet and also Alice’s cravings when she’s pregnant, but usually he would choose something savory instead) so I guess they have a point to misunderstand those as pregnancy signals
