it has a plot but the way the story flows is so unnatural i feel disengaged and dont know whats going on up until chapter 30-ish. the story comprises of 1 million coincidences, mostly person of interest being in certain places at certain times, pivotal person failing to show up and makes a string of opportunity for both FL and ML, silly accidents and incidents thats somehow concludes a series of events together...even the famous and untouchable female antagonist is coincidentally FL's childhood acquaintance and their first standoff is so stale i dont know whats the point of them knowing each other beforehand to be?? tbh the secret corporate espionage team which distributes information and rumours for the company gain is MUCH MORE interesting that FL and ML's story.
both are rapey (doona to minho specifically), and even though doona is unquestionably nobler and more decent as a person than cha wookyung, she still does that to minho. and please, minho is a victim (survivor, i hope) but it doesnt take away the fact that he is a very toxic and downright shitty person. hes not someone youd introduce to your family, or expect a stable, loving relationship with, at least not if he doesnt go to therapy and anger management counsellings. but yes, hes a victim.
i beg to differ, a different way for someone to perceive social interactions doesnt excuse them for being manipulative, entitled, and controlling of others, intentional or not, people are hurt nonetheless. apologies if this might sound most offensive, but what i understand from you is that it is okay for someone not to try to be decent, and of sound judgement, i simply disagree. minho in this case felt entitled of doonas person, he monopolised her, manipulate her feelings, he is a parade of redflag if you may, but thats my assessment
That's a very interesting point, but I'm afraid you completely misunderstood Minho's character... yes, he loved Doona and tried to "control" her by constantly asking where was she going, who was she meeting, but do you really think Minho was the one who had real control on the other in their relationship? When did he even manipulate her? If you call his unromantic behavior manipulation, then I don't think I can agree with you.
has no shame, has no courtesy, him and all of the people of his household has no class amd are uncouth. sister might be gullible but as of now shes just a speck of annoyance to me. the fiance is responsible, in m opinion, after all....hes a married man. and if he has an ounce of honor he wouldve broken the engagement with the elder sister to pursue the younger, but since he didnt, hes the problem.
ive worked with crisis center for gender based violence before and even though it was brief, i always feel my heart breaking, and then angry beyond measure, and then hopeless knowing that the institution existing and the state wont grant survivors a life free of worry after horrendous events. reading this....its too close to home, and as a woman this whole story feels so empowering and...comforting.
the author i feel like they have gender perspective and passionate but also immensely educated on the subject. the archduke and his household is so heartwarming. i cried so much in chapter 44, after her first defence and she found the nostalgic flowers the maids collected for her, i cried even more when the archduke said something along the line of "recognizing youre in pain is the first step to heal" that is just too real. and ebony is very well written, shes practically my hero.
this webtoon is the best out there to date.
shes not us the readers? she cant possibly know his real intentions, not like she can read the subtexts we all read LMAO. the last time she let herself be wooed by a man she got killed and lost a child, would be weirder if all of those is just brushed aside and she mindlessly throw herself to the duke like marianne carmandy would. beside ian's reputation pre-meeting iris is built to be have a bad boy sway to avoid him being thrown into politics. thats his problem to set right to her, not her problem to accept him without thinking twice. i swear yall take the side of men very quickly
I agree!
