I never really paid much attention to Okino (I literally just now learned his name because that's how much I don't care for him), but in this volume he annoyed the hell out of me. I can sympathize with being caught off guard with the plain guy's name being the same as his ex's because his ex was a dick, but him being disappointed (and the fact that his disappointment was clearly displayed, SO RUDE) at the guy's appearance is just plain shallow. Not only that but plain guy is suddenly handsome because hurr durrr only handsome ppl can find love?? And Okino NOW likes him because he's hot and he made his heart go "badump" like once???? Can we just acknowledge how overdone this plot point is and push for more diverse characters (no, not the sjw definition of diverse), having an all ikemen cast is getting kind of boring. Also did I mention that I kind of hate Okino now and will be okay if we never had to see more of this couple ever. Sorry to rant but I'm pmsing right now and yaoi is my output.

Well to be honest, I think his reaction was kind of natural. People are always like "looks don't matter, personality does." People, most of the time, care about looks. People will look at how you dress. People will always look at how nice your face is or how nice your body is. Him being able to say it out loud is what I give him credit for. At least he's not some two faced bitch who would like be like "Haha, you are so nice and cute." and on the inside think "Wow he's so fucking ugly." In the end, his reaction isn't far off from how MOST people are like in reality. Be honest, the first thing you see is a person's looks, not their personality. Don't try to tell me other wise because this is how society is.
Yes u are right to a point. Most of society is like that. When i was younger i was that way too. However,the way he was so rude or kinda hateful to the guys face really bothered me. There was a nicer way of handling that situation without being 2 faced or misleading..i think he expected to get someone like maya and lets face it..there is no one like maya...

and the glasses guy could've just saved him as a good person then been like, "okay. obviously you don't like me." he DID choose to say "i'll make you like me (forgot exact words).
and I think the "badump" kinda upped his interest. I think it showed them as friends for a little bit after. I'm sure some off-scene conversation then happened :P
