i don't really get why people are mad at the emperor for taking concubines, it's literally his duty as the emperor to unite kingdoms like this. after being at war for 10 years and following his dream of becoming the emperor of the land despite all odds, it would be stupid of him to act incompetent all of a sudden. he is a great emperor and deserves respect!
however, i understand if you're sad because i am too. i started this hoping it would eventually become a romance but now i'm just sad for him because pauliana does not have even an ounce of romantic interest in him (which is valid and i don't blame her obliviousness). because of her lack of interest, the emperor is carrying on his duty and accepting the fact that she will never love him back even if it hurts him, actively pursuing their friendship because he values what she wants above everything else. he will never force his feelings on her, and i love that about him.
unfortunately ever since he found out he loved her at the end of season 1, this story just makes me incredibly sad for the emperor and i wish he never fell in love with her at all. i think i would have some hope for them to be together if pauliana was even a little bit interested, but she loves him in a way that is completely platonic because he is her savior and the only person who gave her a chance.
tbh i do feel a bit robbed since it wasn't what i was expecting, but i genuinely do love this story because the characters are interesting and very real. it's just not romantic at this point, which is what i was hoping for, so i'm going to be dropping it.

I haven’t been this shocked by a plot twist in SO LONG, let alone expect it from this random webtoon I decided to read. I fell in love with the characters and they relationship dynamics and I literally never saw this coming for even a second. This webtoon was so fcking emotional and deep in a way I never expected and I’m so glad I read it!
