Nah.. the beginning showed a clip from the future. The duke and his wife dying. It's likelier he realized she was someone loyal and did not betray him or something that caused the tragedy and realized his mistakes.
Still doesn't absolve him of fault, and at least he recognizes it. Also kudos for the FL for not trusting him. Even if he wanted a political marriage he could have at least treated her with respect and ensured she was well treated. The servants were trash but it was his fault for not managing the staff or giving her that authority.

This story is so disappointing tbh. Her leaving the family was too hyped up but she came back in like a second. I wanted drama, I wanted to see more regret from her father but we didn’t get served that at all. Now it’s all wishy washy and the translations aren’t even helping at all. This could’ve had so much potential for revenge, so disappointing
