Don't get me wrong, I think he suffered more than enough. But you can't just expect someone to forgive you and love you after killing their partner and child, that is just a low move for him to do that in the first place. He even acted arrogantly while being pregnant with the first two kids, acted like he is the wife.

In the end it's somehow both their fault. Uke not accepting his "crush" was taken/his pride got hurt when he was turned down.
