If in the last chapter, Jake outright invalidated Shin’s feelings and gaslit him the entire time, It takes a special kind of lack of understanding to turn a guy’s justified anger over being manipulated into him being the “bad guy”. no. It's bad character writing. This trick has been used over and over and over and over again in so many movies and mainstream media so it's heavily normalised, but it's bad writing.

Shin has the right to be mad, and he rightfully is, but the fact that he's hearing what he's been WANTING to hear since the start but then getting mad over it IS bad writing. It's inconsistent and illogical.

But shin's anger could be written in a more nuanced and smarter way than how he came off in that last chapter. Or at least he could have asked jake for an explanation because he LITERALLY WASTED ENTIRE CHAPTERS BEGGING/ FORCING JAKE TO GIVE HIM AN EXPLANATION????? And when Jake is finally going to come clean he's all like 'no, fuck that I don't wanna hear shit'.
