I loved this story and I love that someone was there to stop the abuse,, but the author’s note was disgusting imo, they literally romanticize abuse and that’s... not okay. Wtf. I’m not gonna read the sequel bc I don’t feel like forgiving the abuser lmao it’s just fiction but wtf. I see lots of comments saying how the abuser isn’t a “bad” person bc he too suffered before, but like??? The abuse even knew he was doing bad things yet he ... never stopped the relationship nor looked for help? Communication exists hello?! anyway. I’m glad yumi got out of that relationship and is now super happy. it’s just fiction but really. abuse isn’t just some nice angsty plot point for people to just use.
I was like this first. Like come on if you still love him, break him off yur life already! But when I read the sequels..... Remembering this..... I can only say 'so that's why....'
I really recommend reading the sequel. You'll see the extent a human is capable of doing once cornered. So it's kinda realistic in a way. Though I'm not forcing you. This story can do as a stand alone so you won't lose anything by not reading the sequel.
He was suffering from some kind of psychological illness then. I'm totally against violence, but i truly feel sorry for him. What cornered him was disgusting and unsolvable. He was assaulted at work but cant get out of it coz of economic pressures. He somehow lost his reasoning coz of the physical and mental scars. Then he was in a quandary - he knew he was doing cruel thing but he didnt want to set the uke free as if that happened, he would be all alone. That sounds selfish, but it was as if he could break down anytime if the uke was gone. But he couldnt stop the violence cuz of his sufferings. There was absolute no solution then, and the only way to get out was like how the story went. The seme had to live in guilt and depression. But he did the right thing - overcoming his fear of loneliness and loss of love to set his lover free.
Again, it's wrong of the seme to be violent, but after all, the sequence wasnt about washing all of that away. The seme, though finding new love, still suffered from guilt and thought he didnt deserve happiness. The whole story was about struggles.
It's no longer about wrong or right. We know what he did was wrong, but we cant help feeling sorry for his suffering, and the scars have been healed so everyone deserves happiness now.
The story i think has more depth than a simple one of abusing and setting free and then finding new love. Life never works in any easy-to-judge way. Life is so cruel that the only 3 ways seme could live in then was to hurt the one he loves in guilt but somehow not being literally alone / set his lover free and suffer alone / die. If you can just call for help or think of a solution than life should never have been hard.
You can understad someone, but that does not mean you justify their action and declare them as alright.
You can empathize, but not tolerate.
You can forgive, to let go, but you don`t have to forget.
People are too narrow minded....too many are...that is why so many missunderstandings and so many rifts exist between humans. It is not just black and white my friend :)
THIS WAS SO CUTE? THE SMILE AT THE END??? the art was SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! I loved the plot and the characters honestly this is such a good story! And the grandma,, I lov her
