And really, we can't exactly blame him for not exactly getting why the heck a shallow issue like a tiny earring being identical to someone else's earring can be the cause for such a big uproar in politics...
He's a kid who grew up poor, and a MALE at that... Seeing how even some of the adult males present didn't want to let a "dumb female issue" like twinning earrings seem worthy of their time **cough* the blond duke uncle *cough**, then maybe it was from their attitude that he believed it was a matter that "dignified men" shouldn't see as worthy of making a fuss about... thus he blamed Alicia.
