Even though I started this manga when I was a teenager and it's still not finished years later I really enjoy how kyoko evolves with her career, each role is like an arc. It's not a typical romance in a hurry, at the end of the day she's still underage (17) compare to ren who's 20 I believe. I get to read a new chapter every month so I don't mind but all I hope is that Nakamura sensei doesn't die before ending the story...

some perspective from a long time reader (bear with me for a bit); i started this maybe age 12/over a decade ago and up until a few months ago, I was still excited for the 20th to roll around for the next monthly installment of Skip Beat. While I do enjoy, as you say, how kyoko evolves but when people have been going for so long, it's just a bit alarming that 10+years = not even 3 years in manga time. I get it, there are various factors to consider e.g. this used to be on on a bimonthly (2/month) and then it switched to monthly. I actually quite enjoyed this recent chapter too. However I'm finding it difficult when Nakamura teases our "power couple but not a couple yet" like she's dangling a carrot in front of a rabbit; like so in the few chapters prior to this and ending it by dragging in sho again. the triangle formula is getting old. IMO, this has to be one of the ultimate shoujo test of patience mangas. It's nothing compared to glass mask which might be the only other shoujo test of patience so far (i'm never reading it b/c of that). Skip Beat is my glass mask and I can only hope it does not end up like the real glass mask (1976 and still going). sigh....can only hope. Short term hope: Nakamura fell short with the ring not on the ring finger so I would like to see some more substantial progress so at least kyoko can clear her misunderstanding. That said, age; I think Ren is 25ish (I recall 7/8 yr diff).

I see what you mean but fortunately not many mangas take their time as mush as Skip Beat does but I still enjoy seeing every roles she does and even if sho came back in the picture recently, we all know he has no chance and that Ren and Kyoko will end up together so there's no rush for me and I love seeing his hopes crushed again and again. Also sho was kind of important I feel when the subject of kyoko'd parent's was touched on as he's the only link to her childhood/past self.
When I started reading it again some time ago I was so surprised that it still wasn't finished, about that I'd say i'm a bit frustrated but mostly glad that I still get to get more of it in the future and I'm hooked so it's too late for my case anyway
