Unpopular opinion:
A lot of these manwhas drag the story out too long and loses impact in the process. Sometimes short is sweet, even when it comes to my favorite characters/world building

    Agreed

I agree but this isn't an unpopular opinion

It's a monetizing strategy. The longer the story = long term income. That's why often webtoon chapters cover a short period ( like one chapter is about 30 minutes talk) and the artstyle is very plain like lots of empty spaces between vignette that are often drawn with minimal effort (just heads, full body that redrawn and seen before, hands close up...) to be able to post chapter weekly or monthly.

The less effort in drawing and the slow story progress allows to 1) stretch the story thus long-term income 2) keep the readers' attention by giving the illusion the story is progressing and questions are answered, a "surely next will be better" 3) activate the "Internet notification" dopamine in the reader by uploading chapter every week or month. 4) built a fandom due to point 2 and 3, 5) unlike manga they are not paid for volume but by views and uploads. They're also not well paid btw and received a small percentage. Sometimes they work on other stuff too (most often they're illustrators for WebNovel which needs a weekly well done illustration. So the manhwa is not their top priority.

Basically it's simply not profitable finishing the story and have fast progress.

Btw for "Low effort drawing" I'm not dissing the artists or anything. Actually I would prefer if they do so if they post 2 week or monthly. It's rec to prevent injuries to hands and health issue. I rather they take their time than give their 100% every chapter. They're also not paid well so imagine if they're health deteriorates ughhh medical bills. Plus if it does happen there's big chance they go endless hiatus to recuperate which is fine. But I rather they take a hiatus because they need a vacation than have it because they're for hurt, got heavily ill or get an injury that impact them long term

It's not unpopular, I'm with you (⌒▽⌒) To this day, I still love and adore the manga format because the mangaka will make some omake (spinoff in English) according to their mood and surprise fans (always a delight when that happens) even after ending the series. You nailed it 1000%. I love reading the webtoon, manhwa/ga/hua (book versions), and watching the anime adaptations, but I gotta mention the impact of fillers in japanese anime; it doesn't take away the high-quality storyline/plots/character progress in any way unlike the other 2 manhua/hwa. So, there! Be proud (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ I support your view lol

Yes! I love that the best. I'm finding that I am dropping manwhas more often because they add so much to the story that it's all frazzled and far from what made me want to read it in the first place. Yet, I do see people begging for more.

any mangas/manwhas aside from Lick Me, Like Me that has a threesome couple?

GrapeKiwi September 8, 2015 5:39 am

I am desperately trying to find what manga this page is from. The translators use it as their recruiting page, but won't say what it is.
