He round down his age to be closer to his "official" age in paper. in the korean text the meaning of his words is that "he doesn't bother to add the missing year anymore" because his birth only get acknkowledged after that 1 year of "abandonment", plus everybody dont give a damn about his real age because they also refer Phon's age with the round down one.

Rykell didn't complain about the round down because altering Phon's age is a good addition for security purpose (if he detects the flirting indication, Rykell will instantly shut Phon down and ban him to talk).

people will talk if Rykell's disciple born around the time when the emperor's wife broke her imprisonment and made her desperate escape while being pregnant. the baby is said to be died inside the womb when they managed to drag the dying woman back to the palace (Rykell & Galatea hid Phon's existence together with the ruler of the east & west.)

so, it is not because "he really wants his age to be closer as Maybelle". he can simply said that he is 3 years older if he doesn't want to share more, but Phon wanted to be honest with Maybelle about his circumstances.

about the flirting. I can still tolerate Phon's flirting compared to Abel or Aslan's. Abel is plain careless while Aslan is questionable (he is older than Phon. his age is around Phon's real age or Vivia). Phon knows his limit and doesn't take it too far or just being smooth (and some of his flirting actually is his way to fool around and testing Rykell's patience.).

age difference doesn't really matter, because even Abel do the same as Phon while Maybelle's reactions are mostly "???" at this age. Both Abel & Aslan are more direct than Phon in this season (Abel stated that he wants "more" than a master-butler relationship, while Aslan just literally do his 1st love confession

You're being an ignorant person rn- i hope you know that. what Shuyaa said had valid points, and btw you shouldnt deem someone's words as "irrelevant". the author made the plot that way and it's not up to you to decide whether a character they had made up is good or bad. if you dont like it, leave it.

If you have a question or genuine concern, state your opinion RESPECTFULLY (not by telling someone else their ideas are worthless). if you're going to be a know-it-all and tell us someone's topic is "irrelevant", just go read the manhwa again- no one's stopping you.
