I was waiting for next chapter until I read “Status: Completed” (╯°Д °)╯╧╧....
Why?! When everything was getting so good! ╥﹏╥

Wouldn’t it be more symbolic if Ash actually lived?.... Ash had a life full of abuse which lead him to bad decisions including killing people... but he could have changed if he lived with Eiji,
If only Ash had the chance to live a life without guns and violence, that would be more symbolic, showing how a csa victim had salvation in life and not with death.

I don’t see why some people say it’s karma what killed him, with that logic most of banana fish characters should die too, also with Ash death you’re implying that Eiji deserves to suffer the rest of his life mourning Ash dead.

Actually, I just can't accept that ending. There's NO WAY no one noticed a bleeding person walking into a public library. And secondly: blood SMELLS. So how come that no one noticed it still?? I call it BS.

    Same.
Not only would the smell alert someone, bleeding out doesn't stop unless you are extremely low on blood and if that happens you wouldn't be able to move. So there should have been a giant pool of blood around the chair. Something that would not go unnoticed in an illuminated library with tons of people.

In my opinion, the author really messed up the ending.

    I think so too.

I also think that the author only wrote it this way so the story will have more impact on the readers. Just for the tragedy, for the drama, and so ppl will talk about it more.

However, if they really wanted to kill off Ash's character that badly, they should've at least put some serious tought in it so it would be more logical and not just this... It was obviously just for the sensation of the story.

Agreed. It felt like the average 'drama for drama's sake' kinda twist...but in bad (for those that loved Ash and wanted to see him have a happy life after all the things that had happened to him).

Stories like this are precisely why I stay as far away from drama and tragedy tagged manga as I possibly can.
Which is sad since most of the stories are good, unless you have bad luck in picking a read...like me oh-so often. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I'd absolutely love it if the ending was at least open.
You know, show him try to get help and the last scene is him collapsing in front of someone? That way it is up to the reader's imagination if or if not he survived and ended up happy.
I'd have enjoyed that way more and it would STILL have been a tear-jerker and made me an emotional mess.

Same. I like tragediy and dramaa, if they are well written, so I'm often willing to take a risk. I didn't regret that I read this one for sure, this has one of the best storytelling in my opinion and made me feel a lot of different emotions. The only thing I'm not satisfied with, is this ending.

I'd also love it if the ending was left open, I think it would be quite unique and I like it when the authors leave some things to the readers imagination, so that would make them to speak about the story more, and everyone can share their ideas. And it still could make me cry.

But since it wasn't the case, unfortunately we can't really do anything about it. (but I still think that this endig was horribly cruel to Eiji, who will suffer from the loss for the rest of his life..he absolutely didn't deserve this) ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

    Indeed, the story was really good and it did manage to hold my attention until the messed up ending. Not sure if I should be happy about that...I'm still undecided on that. ;-;

I find it sad that so few authors stay away from leaving things to the readers imagination or interpretation. Open endings can satisfy everyone, IF they bother thinking of a good ending, and it makes for a really good read and re-read even. Same goes for stories without dialogue. These 'themes' (? is that the right word??) are so rarely used despite being incredibly good plot devices and can help tell an incredible story without the need for walls of text or such.
I'd appreciate an author that only draws manga like that, it would be a change of pace for the mangaworld, in my opinion.

True. But even if we cannot do anything about it, I'll still not give up the hope that manga will someday get a re-work just like old anime so frequently do. That would be one of my top wishes of all time. <XD

    Either way.
I'll try to erase this ending from my memory just like the one from Bleach. ( =v=)b
