The first 3 chapters were so good! I loved the comedy and it was building up to some kind of interesting reveal. And then... chapter 4 happened.
I legit thought he was dreaming the entire chapter. It didn't make any sense and was so weird. The background threw me off the most, like where even were they? I though they were outside the uke's work, but then Takahashi (who's never met the uke before) showed up outside his workplace with his entire creepy family? Did the daughter divine it by listening to the crows or some shit? Lol I almost feel like we need a spin-off for poor Takahashi.
Also Takahashi's son looked at least 13 but Takahashi is 32. So that's a thing lol.
And the stalking was weird and didn't even get a conclusion. Like why and for how long was he doing it? The seme also knew stuff about pachinko that I thought would tie into some plot reveal but I guess he just learned it from stalking him?
This could have been so much better. T^T
I found the dialogue too wordy and too cringe... I couldn't really get into it. :/ I think it was trying to be introspective but the whole thing was pretty shallow. I loove fetish mangas but overall this felt bottom of the barrel. I know the author is new so it's fine but there were lots of places the editor should have stepped in and made it better.
This was everythinggggg!! So many of my fave tropes all rolled into one; I can't! Gorgeous art (srsly couldn't stop staring at Amasawa's gorgeous fucking face), an officer in uniform ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ , side characters with mc-level personalities, cooking together and then telling the other how delicious it is, comforting when sick, pining for an unrequited love, such SWEET FLUFFFF. I need moar!!
It felt like the author doesn't have much storytelling experience. Which is fine - the only way to get experience and improve is to do the thing. But the result of that is a "meh" reading experience imo: some scenes jumped the shark a bit, and the ending felt abrupt and left too much hanging. Entire plot threads were just dropped. The uncle x nephew thing was weird too. Usually I don't mind it, but it's the author's job to sell you on it, and I didn't feel convinced here.
I'd say it's worth a read if you've got nothing else on your to-read list. The drama aspect is interesting and it's a unique story. I'd rate it a solid 3 stars tho.
I actually really loved Chang! T^T His character arc was so good, and his motivations and emotions felt so real and raw. Everything about him felt believable. Him consciously doing bad things while also trying to do good things put my heart in a weird place. I pitied him and thought he got what he deserved, but at the same time I was really rooting for him. (Also he was really hawttttt lmao!) I wish we could get more of his story. I want to watch him become a better person and find happiness.
Samedtt! I really wish Chang could be more honest about how he felt. Not just hiding in shadows. Hope the author will have another story which Chang is the lead.
