Wow I loved this! Yes they're messy, amoral, shitty, sweet, confused, hateful, in love, dependent, hopeful, desperate, afraid, lustful - but that's the gamut of the human experience, and to deny any of those experiences as valid is to deny being human, being driven by emotion, and making mistakes. I think the storytelling was beautifully done, the plot was well-crafted, the art was gorgeous, and the whole piece overall engaging and compelling.
I'm looking forward to hopefully getting the side stories!
Am I the only one who wants more chapters lmao? Like uke boi was totally into it the entire time. The part where he was raped while unconscious was unnecessary imo but the rest of it was fire. I want more chapters where the uke gets purposely drunk at all the club events so he can have more sex with the seme. And then the seme slowly starts to fall for the uke but won't admit it. Shit like that would be good lol.
nooo why did it end like that, I wanted more!! Tbh I think the story needed more. :/
I'm actually kind of really disappointed that no one really had a character arc. In a whole season. In the end Geumhwa just went back to his old lover and his old suicidal ways. Like srsly wtf??? That's fine if there's another season for him to grow and become a stronger person, but it just ended there??? I'm actually so mad lol.
I had expected that after he got back to Korea his experience with Seung Jae would have led him to finally value himself a little more and move forward with more strength of character. Instead he just got back with Minwook and then he allowed Seung Jae to "save" him instead of him growing a pair and saving his own damn self by becoming an independent person.
He was a passive character letting things happen to him for like 90% of the story. That's generally a big no-no in fiction. Main characters are supposed to be active participants in the story. Seung Jae and Minwook would have both made better MCs solely from a storytelling perspective. I mean, Geumhwa didn't even have any initiative or part in reuniting with Seung Jae, it was Minwook and Seung Jae (or redhead) who made it happen! Ugh I'm so mad lol.
They also left out a lot of details that could have really enriched the plot. If it's a story about tattoos (like it says in the epilogue) then give us more details about Seung Jae's original tattoo, about the meaning of the artwork of his new one, etc. The story just felt so shallow in comparison to the depth it hinted at, and I'm mad we didn't get it.
All ranting aside tho, I did still enjoy it and I'm just mad because it was pretty good and had potential to be amazing.
Maybe this will be an unpopular opinion, but I really didn't like season 1. I felt like it was executed poorly, I didn't like either of the characters, and overall I just found it frustrating to read. Season 2 was so much better though. I love seeing creators grow over the span of a series, and I wasn't disappointed here. (Though the author still needs to learn how to indicate flashbacks properly; the visual cues were all over the place.) The character arcs of both main characters were really well done in season 2 and it was a lot more emotionally fulfilling to read.
The last couple chapters did feel a bit rushed in comparison with the pacing of the rest of the story, and I wish we had gotten a bit more about their new relationship moving forward. I also wish there had been more about Leo, either by giving him his own small character arc and turning him into less of a flat character or by showing that Skylar was a bit more emotionally invested in Leo's future.
And one last nitpick is I wish they hadn't changed Skylar's name from Wooju to Skylar since it seems like they kept all the other character and location names.
Overall though, this was a good read and I really enjoyed season 2! I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing new stories from this author.
Ahh what happened with upperclassman and diarrhea boy?? I ship them so hard!
Yesssss
