I hate TJ heavily. I love Ian and I already have seen the raw so I am not surprised about what happened. However I don’t love him as much as I used to. You made a stand against Tj saying he wasn’t the guy you were into meanwhile you are being shady yourself. Saying that he will get rid of someone for Tj and blah blah blah.
Look I get that if he chose Jo too early, it would create less material for season two so they are creating a red herring. But there’s better ways to do that. Such as changing the way season 1 ended. However I also understand that Ian can’t make a complete flip just like that and will have moment of weaknesses where he will go back to his old ways.
I see Tj as a drug for Ian. He’s not a good man for him nor do they show any type of growth in terms of character, however he’s familiar and part of a routine. Ian wants to change. And he is constantly attracted to Jo’s different world. A world that Ian desperately wants to be in. But the drug constantly tempts him. Reminding him of a past that used to be good and buildable. Ian desperately finding the man he used to be in love with but is only reminded of the reality that he is a part of the world Ian desperately wants to escape from.

Mmmm it’s complicated. In the beginning of S1 she does explain his distaste for him but at the same implicates that it’s hard to stay away from him. Obviously he still cares about him to an extent but he prefers running away a lot more than staying. Now in season 2? That’s more mysterious to create mystery for the sake of the love triangle element

Maxi: was insulted and treated like shit all her life = questioning of her own self worth and lack of confidence. Which results in insecurity with literally everything.
You know what that means? It cannot be magically healed by a man having sex with her like a lot of stories seem to have logic on that. I have went through the same thing as her so I can tell you that it takes YEARS to gain confidence
Now on to our boy Riftan: the way he was raised was the sword, killing, justice, cold, authority etc. You can tell that he has a hard time toward subjects that revolve around coddling and gentleness. While he loves his wife dearly, he acknowledges that it is a flaw that he cannot be 100% gentle and open to his wife because that is something he can’t really do right away. It takes a long time to change your way of thinking that you’ve known since birth.
The verdict: Maxi’s insecurity and Riftan’s temper is something they have to fix together as husband and wife. They are the polar opposites of each other and they are aware of that. Riftan would never hurt his wife and Maxi’s personality cannot simply be fixed easily either.
This story is very realistic in terms of flaws within a person. Once Maxi learns her self worth and Riftan being a lot more soft, they can grow like that oak tree in the garden. And I believe that could be why it is in the story title.

Bummer that the story wasn’t as good as I thought. I would’ve wished the story’s pacing wasn’t so fast and it slowly built up in their relationship. They didn’t go into detail about his parents or his trauma. Trusting someone takes years after building up walls for so long meanwhile it only took him one sex session to cure him. Also it was never said about the ML’s family either..? Imma assume they were killed? Also the fact that the Spanels were freed so easily is so anticlimactic??
If you want a story about a master and his servant, read Royal Servant. The pacing is pretty good and the story line between the two characters is sorta similar. The master has a hard time trusting servants because a servant killed his parents. And it actually goes in depth with the trauma the master has. (The art style is rough at the beginning but later it becomes so pretty) This story pulled my heart strings!

I can seriously relate to this girl. When you are constantly being compared to and ridiculed, it makes you constantly question your self worth. Do not say she is annoying and “weak” when her trauma is so brain damaging. She was constantly abused by the servants and her father and they constantly lowered her self esteem. From personal experience, the voices from those people nag at you at every step you make. She also has abandonment issues and that’s why she is afraid of what she could say to her husband. She will develop with time. I feel like this story does well at mental health recovery and how it doesn’t just take a new husband to completely get rid of her demons right away.
That was the worst final chapter for a season I have ever read. What kind of “cliff hanger” was that bro
