Everything about the fucking webtoon is mid. Mid as hell. Mid story, mid characters, mid art. It’s not even “psychological” or “deep”—just fucking stupid. A lot seems to happen simply for shock value. There are better guideverse and better dark stories out there.
do u have any recommendations? All the guideverses I've read before were also mid or just plain boring.
korean guideverses are either draggy slowburn relationship melodramas or just full on smut. they rarely have background plot like profundis. and not many of the novels have adaptations.

I haven’t read a crazy amount of guide verses but I quite liked “B-Class Guide.” You might’ve already read it, because it was kind of popular a while ago, but it’s less serious/stupid than this one and much more fun.
Huh. Goes to show how different tastes are. I enjoyed that one for sure, but it definitely wasn’t as powerful/impactful as Profundis, for me. To be fair, I am mostly a fan of the Profundis novel, which has some incredible passages. I agree the romance was mid and unconvincing though.
Yeah, I don’t think B-class guide was impactful at all but it was very fun. Based on what people are saying it sounds like the Profundis novel is better/more interesting than the webtoon. I don’t think it’s meant to be a true romance in the first place if I’m not mistaken, so maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe I’ll check out the novel sometime.
I highly recommend the novel, if only for the writing. It definitely inspired me in my own writing. Just turn your brain off when you get to the “romance.” Though even the romance grew on me because you get to read from Shinje’s perspective, really get inside his head, and you just kind of realize he’s totally insane and full of hate. And so at that point you’re more fascinated by his twisted mind then being horrified by the romance.
Everyone else talking about how scared they were at that last panel but my reaction was to squeal and giggle. Someone pray for me I’m too far gone for this man

What is this boo-boo ass story… main character suddenly “becomes good” without any inclinations of his past life somehow, and suffers very little blowback… everyone just suddenly accepts that he’s good now? The romance feels very stiff and not realistic too, especially in the beginning. I kind of wish it was deeper than it is. No hate if you like it but I thought it would be better.
Omg I love this comment. I just can’t forget the bad stuff he did before he was given a second chance and the story could’ve been told in like 30 chapters or less. It wasn’t as intense as I thought it would be.

I cant bring myself to feel them because their emotions are all over the place, they're stiff, they have no chemistry and their reactions makes no sense. Being able to relate to a story is a big deal, u can't excuse a poor ass writing with "its just fiction, it shouldn't be taken realistically"

Fantasty is not the same thing as fiction, first of all. Fiction is prose that describes imaginary events and people while being a 1=1 of our world most of the same. Fantasy varies but dabbling in the fantastical and supernatural etc etc but it still has an element of realism because if it didn't you wouldn't be able to recognise it and thus comprehend it. I don't think you know what you're talking about
You're so right. It had so much potential but it turned out to be pretty trash. Both the MC and ML have the personality of wet cardboard. I have never forgotten a story so quickly as this one.
