Think about how married people get into abusive relationships. Through the years of the dating part, they are nice and friendly. Then when they marry they become abusive. The victim wont do anything since they still see the kind and romantic version. This is a similar situation, even though they are not married. Hes annoyed with his lover possibly cheating since he thinks that the mc belongs to him, but he doesnt belong to the mc so to him he can do what he likes. A disgusting character indeed.

There is also the aspect that people stay in loveless relationships, because it's familiar, or there are certain dependencies such as sharing a home, one partner not having financial independence etc. In this webtoon it did seem like the ill character did not want to go through a big upheaval like a breakup, selling property etc when he was trying to retain a bit of stability during his illness. He knows his partner is sleeping with others, but seems to be content with not accepting the reality of this. We've only really had the ill character's perspective on why he is currently staying in that type of relationship, but not the context/and his own 'justification" as to why the partner is cheating. The ill character never even tells his partner that he is ill, and his partner never finds out till after he dies. This was down partly to the doctor meddling and preventing such communication, but the ill character for whatever reason wasn't able to, or didn't want to tell. I guess he was just trying to get through, not wanting to admit how serious his diagnosis was even though it was causing him a lot of pain, or the state of his also painful relationship. The webtoon unfortunately does seem like it's going to go down the tropes of miscommunication and "make him suffer as revenge" rather than a more mature portrayal.

he was the one who slept around and treated mc like shit in the first place. i think he should count himself lucky that mc doesn’t have family members to beat the shit out of him for treating him like dirt. not every story has to go down the same route to be portrayed as “mature”.

It's understandable for lots of reasons why he hasn't yet being able to tell about his diagnosis, but the point is goes to his deathbed without never telling him, and the doctor meddling was also responsible for this. They aren't kids at school, but adults who are still in a long term relationship and own property together, they have certain responsibilities to each other. Another aspect is that the backstory as to why the partner is cheating and stressed hasn't been shown, what his reasoning is for doing so and not just breaking up which would be the less selfish thing to do. Just that what the ill man dies he apparently is left distraught and guilty, which is also understandable. They both did seem to love each other, but such is life.
