Well actually in this story, in the past, Ye Xiu had a best friend called Su Muqiu who was Su Mucheng’s older brother. Ye Xiu met him when they compete in Glory as a casual play. Then they became friends. According to the movie, The King’s Avatar For the Glory, Su Muqiu and Ye Xiu lived together after that cuz Ye Xiu has some conflicts with his family. Bruh... I could see the gayness of them lol. After that, Su Muqiu died in a car accident cuz at the time, he was at the side of the road when a car hit him. Ye Xiu grieved his death and till now, he still remember Su Muqiu. It’s kinda a fact that Ye Xiu wanted to win the Glory Championship cuz he wanted to give Su Muqiu the trophy that Su Muqiu really wanted other than the fact that Ye Xiu loves Glory.

Ikr, I would have preferred to see their close friendship further. Instead they killed him off. In King’s Avatar live action, Ye Xiu and Su Muqiu loved playing bike racing like the games in the arcade. After Su Muqiu’s death, Ye Xiu played with an NPC who controlled Su Muqiu’s bike and he even cried. He just wanted to play with Su Muqiu even tho he knew that the one he was playing with was only an NPC that controlled Su Muqiu’s bike. I could totally feel his sadness and love towards Su Muqiu. When the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella broke, he was mostly saddened because that weapon was Su Muqiu’s creation.
What got me weird was that in the live action, they seemed to want to pair up Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng together even tho it’s so obvious that Ye Xiu treats her like a little sister which is pretty evident if anyone watches King’s Avatar For the Glory movie. Totally gave me goosebumps. But anyway if you want top league boyfriends who compete against each other, you should totally read God Level Summoner. It’s actually a part of a trilogy and it’s the second book. The first book is The Strongest God and the third book is The King’s Return. Currently, only the second book is fully translated. MC is Li Cangyu and ML is Ling Xuefeng. Loved it. The King’s Return has only been translated about 1/4 while the Strongest God has been reserved for years but never translated lol.
