Why the fuck do authors love putting rape in their works like what the heck. It ruins the characters and the story.

before, I know for certain that it's a kink, and to some even these days, it still is. But as far as I can tell, nowadays, they're mostly doing it for the ragebait, see how many people are talking about this work because most readers were disappointed? yeah, that's bad publicity working for ya LOL. Really the best way to combat these sort of thing is to not give it hype or drop it, but what can ya do? even I'm curious how the author will get out of this mess, if they can or if they even want to, they're not dragging out the toxicity and angst yet like in some BLs so I'll give it a bit of leeway for now.

It's also frustrating because rape kink is all well and good as long as you're not hurting anyone and I know there's an audience for those stories. There are actually a few consensual non-con oneshots I actually like because they're done well. But when it's so pervasive even in stories where it makes no sense, it stops being an author catering to a specific kink and totally becomes rage bait. Or just reaction bait, at least.
You're absolutely right that the best way to discourage rage bait is to ignore it, but it also feels really irresponsible to say nothing, you know? It would be easier if it were a series I didn't care about much, I'd probably leave a review, drop it, and never think about it again. But when it's something you're invested in it's so much worse.
So like after 30 years of publication is there any development regarding the Black organization?
