So putting aside the issues with the Birdmen King… Did Kouichi make the deadline?
I re-read the last few chapters, but I can’t figure out if Kouichi still has a day left, or is it the final hours of the quiz.
Because if Kouichi still has a day left, there’s not going to be much issues of his qualifications. But on the other hand, if it’s in the final hours, I can guess the people who were trying to sabotage the quiz are going to argue that Kouichi hatched it too late - as it was probably after the date ticked over.
Not getting the hate for the King and Tihla.
It’s literally outright stated that the ruler of the Birdmen has the freedom to love whoever they want. And from the Queen’s reaction that falling in love with Tihla was not an issue of itself nor something she could do anything about - which implys that having a concubine or secondary consort is legal and morally acceptable within the Birdmen country.
It only became an issue for the Queen and the supporters of the crown prince when the crown prince became suicidal.
And judging from how they are in the minority - the birdmen in general were celebrating that there would be a new royal child - that further cemented that the Ruler of the Birdmen is allowed to have open relationships.
While my personal morals don’t agree with that (I prefer monogamy). Trying to apply my personal morals to a country and situation where my morals are obviously not what is considered the standard by which things should be judged would just make me look foolish and ignorant.
The Raws are about 9 chapters ahead of this and to avoid major spoilers all I can confirm the egg hatches within the span of those chapters. In all likelihood with the current release speed we’ll see the egg hatch within the next two batches.
The citizens of that village left absolutely NOTHING to chance. It’s actually hilarious at how meticulous their preparations were to ensure knowledge survived for as long as it did.
Ngl the last few chapters have been delivering some actual decent twists. Didn’t expect that background character from early in the arc to be an assassin.
People might be complaining about the length of this arc, but the author has been laying the groundwork for the payoffs we’re getting now since the beginning, so I am NOT complaining. Good payoffs need the groundwork to be satisfactory. And if playing FFXIV has taught me one thing, sometimes you have to wait for a couple of years for a story to deliver on its payoffs.
That said, I think we are in the climax of the egg arc. So while I do appreciate that the author took the time to build up properly for the payoffs currently happening… I also hope things are wrapped up quickly afterwards. Almost all the cards that have been hidden are coming into play, so there isn’t going to be a need to keep stringing things along in the falling action portion of the plot.
But after this I can see at least one more arc. As there are several unaddressed plot points. The Doctor’s illness is still a thing. Dyne has his past to discover. And Kouichi still needs to perfect body manipulation magic so he can take all of Caius before the story can end properly.
El and Al being there in the last panel channeling all the reader’s ire into making sure Hyme leaves with the least amount of dignity.
Watching the father and the grandmother absolutely wreck the diplomatic corp without ever having said an outright threat is a thing a beauty and awesomeness.
I’d like to think that I have a high tolerance for stories killing likable characters for the service of a good story, but this current progression is testing even my tolerance levels. So I think I’m going to give JJK a break for a while. This latest chapter was too much even for me. I was going to be okay with all the sacrifices - even Gojo - if it meant taking Sukuna down.
But if Sukuna regains is energy and makes all the sacrifices worthless, I think that means I need to step away before the current progression completely ruins the whole manga for me.
Well I’m actually surprised that I am not surprised. Still holding out for the dark-haired brother to be “a jerk, but not actually someone who will stand in Coro’s way” character.
That was exactly what I wanted to see after that past chapter. What a way to end a story.
Seriously I love eating all the sweetness from this couple, but I am starting to feel like I could develop diabetes!
But with all seriousness, I love this couple and how happy they are :D
Can we get a chapter/ extra with them going at as demons? Seeing Halle with wings and pointy ears kinda turned me on.
I’m not sure where the story CAN go from here. With Gojo dead and Megumi still possessed, there’s really nothing to stop Sukuna now. Like, I would have understood if Sukuna had to go back to Yuki at the cost of Gojo having to die - as that would have put things back at a neutral field for the main cast.
But now? I can’t think of way to overcome Sukuna and deal with Kenjaku. Unless Gojo is revived in the next few chapters - or barring a REALLY BIG deus ex Machina in the final battles - I honestly think Gege wrote himself into a corner.
