Ok so I haven’t read spoilers... I’m bad with details when there’s a week in between but here’s my theory-

I think he isn’t the same as he was when he was younger due to his time with the mafia (when he was undercover) I think he had to do stuff to keep himself hidden and ultimately ended up loosing himself and doing stuff that the alter ego he had created to live with himself was ok by doing, killing people, and such but he was being drugged without his knowledge. And ended up a bit crazy. With a hidden personality that can resurface. Maybe thats what his mom is perceiving and maybe that’s why the white haired dude is always so weird around him, I think he met his alter ego at one point but knows that isn’t him cause he knew him from even before he went undercover. I think that dude he was trying to catch really did a number on his phyche and is alive but he doesn’t have control over some of his memories cause they aren’t his technically ??? Maybe. Idk I’m just spewing bullshit
