My thought is ( I REALLY hope it's true) is that instead of the emperors baby she's pregnant with that duke dudes, I really want the emperor to be infertile. I REALLY want that.
.
The reason I think so is he must've tried a LOT with our Empress and he couldn't get her pregnant but supposedly got Trash pregnant soooo... also The duke may have asked for Sexual favors since he knows she used to be a slave. To me at least, it makes sense.
.
It'll make it SO much more worth it when he realizes his mistake, or finds out about her last child.

yes its not a theory the emperor is indeed infertile and yes
thats not his child its the dukes sons child since the baby will come out with green eyes and brown hair
at some point someone tried giving naiver infertility pills but the emperor accidentally took them instead so now hes the one whos infertile
I cant wait to see his face when the baby comes out and when naiver finally marries prince Heinley.
Spoiler
The emperor is infertile and Trashta is a conniving bitch. When the emperor divorces our MC for that bitch he expected her to stay and still be with him but our mc requests the ability to get remarried to Heinley and the church allows it and the emperor inprisons them but they escape and it is revealed later that our mc is pregnant so the infertile one Is the emperor.
Adding to this cause I just wanted
*spoilers
No one gave Navier anything on purpose. The previous Empress (Sovieshu’s mother) had cookies she was going to give the Emperor’s mistress to make her infertile. At the time they weren’t giving Navier treats or anything to keep her slim so Sovieshu saw the cookies and snuck her a few and she ate most of them, he didn’t have as much. Later his mom finds out and asks him if he or Navier ate any and he lies about it (I forgot why, I think it might’ve been to keep them out of trouble). Sovieshu tells the priest all of this when he’s filing for divorce. He says he’s always blamed himself for it.
*in the western kingdom Navier conceives on a magic bed that helps with Mana and fertility so I believe it remains unclear if Sovieshu was the only one infertile
Forgot to mention
They were kids when this happened and Sovieshu thought the cookies were just normal cookies.
*the scene where the Empress finds out she’s pregnant actually made me cry. She was so happy and not just because it meant an heir or that she was fertile, but because she never thought she could have children of her own. It’s also really satisfying seeing the Emperor put the pieces together that the kid isn’t his
I just wanted to correct a couple mistakes made here.
Someone already mentioned about the cookie incident when Navier and Sovieshu were children, so I'll skip over that. But the baby Rashta has is Alan's. He is the son of Viscount Roteschu who is Rashta's previous owner while she was a slave.
Also, the baby (Gloriem) was born with silver hair and dark eyes. She basically looks just like Rashta which is why Sovieshu didn't question her legitimacy at first. It was only after Navier got pregnant with Heinley pretty much straight away that he started to question if Gloriem was truly his daughter.
it's not "practically" it IS abuse my boy
wait wait wait wait. So hol' up. Is it abuse because she had malicious intent behind it? because my father has had me and my sisters doing yard work since we were little. Like stacking wood for our wood burning stove that gives us heat for the winter. I don't think fetching water is abuse rather just a chore? What would make it abuse was the fact that she planned to use it as an excuse for shaming him. but the moment you are quoting it was only implied that she was going to do that.
In some life styles that would be normal. Yes, he is a noble and they have servants. But would you say that the peasants are abusing their children when they ask them to do a similar task? No, because that's a normal life style. What if the mother wasn't actually planning it to be a form of abuse and was trying to teach him to be humble and independent rather than relying on someone else for everything.
I don't think this is comparable to doing a little yardwork, like sure that's normal to ask your kids, in this case however it's not an age appropiate task. It'd ordinarily be too heavy for him to get the bucket from the well and he'd get rope burn from trying to pull it with force and failing to because he's a small child, if it was something easy like using a water pump it'd be do-able as a task ofc, tho the filled bucket might still be too heavy to lift to transfer to the pitcher and drag it inside
Ah, you make a very fair point. I admit that I may be wrong. Thank you for this information.
Her general attitude is why I made this statement, my mother also treated me like this and it really harmed my mental wellbeing. I thought I was worthless since I couldn't make her tea properly, and that if I did everything she would praise me. It never happened, she took advantage of me as a young child and shes doing the same to him.
