I know it's not that deep but with this kind of stories i keep wondering, don't they have separate ID's? Did the parents only register one son?? Was the other one unschooled??? Where are the authorities?? Do they legally have only one son and the other was hidden?
AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN I RECOVERED FROM ASTHMA IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT
This is a sport manga and Eijun is the main character, we all know he'll be the ace and win at the end, that's the point. Even if it's a bit frustrating i ike that they focus on Furuya because both of them are good but no matter what, Furuya is not the main chara, he'll be surpassed at the end, his time to shine is only now. I like that it's not only about the protagonist (even if i love him) but the team as a whole, rivals included.
I find sport mangas in which the main character always wins and easily reaches his goals super boring. We're here for the suffering
Or.. maybe the mangaka can actually not make eijun always win AND AT THE SAME TIME keeps focusing on eijun instead of other characters.. you know, like other good shounen sports manga such as haikyuu which never forgets to develop side characters including rivals while also being totally focused on Hinata. Honestly furuya already had too much time to shine for the whole 2 seasons, and by this point, I'm tired of him already. We've suffered too much without payoff.
I don't think it's compromising his growth tho. Until now he demostrated being able to grow even without the favorauble position of being the ace, growing at his shadow to finally surpass him at the end, for me that makes it even more worthy. This main character development while still fully developing supporting charas is what I find charming, you don't need to choose one, it focuses on Seidou as a team.
It's only a matter of preferences since the things i see people complaining about in daiya are exactly the reasons why it's my favorite over other sport mangas which bore me, so this is my subjective opinion (im all for the angst).
I can't really say about hk because i dropped it some time ago but as i remember Hinata wans't competing inside the team for the same position, was he? I think the case is different.
Oh yeah, now that I think about it I was giving a terrible example because baseball and volleyball are totally different sports. Lol I could've said something about Major series (because baseball) but I dropped it because MC is an entitled prick. Also, if you're interested in sports genre where MC doesn't win all the time yet have an incredible growth/development rate, I would recommend Baby Steps, it's about tennis so it's totally focused on MC. As for your point, I get where you're coming from, I guess different people look for different things in a story.
It's okay. I'll try Baby Steps then, thanks! :)
Now that I think about it maybe my first post was a bit aggresive. I was upset because I kept seeing people complaining about the author not knowing what he's doing anymore when he's giving some of us exactly what we want, not good or bad, just subjective. Sorry!
I couldn't care less about age gap in fiction but when the grown ass man can't even clean his home and needs a kid to be his caretaker i'm out
