did you miss that he was still grieving? like yeah he shouldn’t have neglected her but he is still grieving the woman he loved. everyone deals with grief differently whether it’s good or not. & plus, he didn’t want to neglect his wife the emperor purposely kept making him do stuff he cannot refuse the emperor. he loved his wife if he had chance to be there for her he would have.
