while i feel the ending is a little rushed persay, it doesn’t stray from anything but peak.

my theory is that once jaekyung went back to his father the cycle of abuse only continued. the reconciliation with his father, kwon and hansol would only be a delusion he made in his mind in his last days. ultimately, once jaekyung went back to his father, got pushed to the point of no return and ended up killing himself. the flash of scenes in the final chapter would show the reality of what went on, as opposed to the delusion of his father apologizing, and hansol and kwon making friends with jaekyung again. it’s gutwrenching and sad, but it feels wrong to have it any other way. on one hand jaekyung can heal and can become this idealized version of himself—but he will always be haunted by his father and “failures”. and for that he lives in a cycle of dissatisfaction and misery.

i wouldve liked more chapters with the mother included, but that’s just my personal preference.

not to mention, the horror-like, disturbing art style of scribbles the author uses is amazing in contrast to the lines of the figures—really telling as to the deterioration of jae’s mental state. all i can wish is that he got a nice spot up in heaven for manhwa characters.
