DL means “down low”. it refers to closeted men who present themselves as “straight” while pursuing homosexual relationships on the “down low”. aka sneakily, because these men are typically husbands or boyfriends. now, the ML doesn’t have a significant other but he is presenting a lot of the same troubling behavior. it’s important for me to point out that DL men, more often than not, have no intention in coming out the closet. whether it be because of their internalized homophobia, fear, or sheer negligence these men have no intentions in being in healthy queer relationships or not cheating on their current partners. they want both and that’s what makes them so toxic because they’re abusive on both ends.

it’s not as egregious as some other BLs or nearly as violent but i imagine we’re in for a really annoying arc filled with necessary but frustrating drama rn. either way, i say try it because i do actually like the MC as a character and find him to be refreshing. i also like his relationship with his friends as well :)
