the 2nd lead pales heavily in comparison. one might want to conveniently excuse him as being immature and needed to grow up and change but he played a part in gaslighting her into doubting her capabilities to be a physician. it's frustrating and tedious to have to consume the story with his presence. Why is he necessary at all. His part should have ended when she left therapia. I'd prefer more progress with what her past was to cause her trauma and social impairment and seeing her making steps towards improvement.
Just starting this and i'm confused about the reason Juliet was ever angry and upset. While it's one thing to want to marriage for love but when it's royals and today's elites, it's not uncommon for marriage to be a business transaction. The fact war was brought up at all just seems like she didn't have a grasp of what her position is - what has she as a princess contributed to her people and kingdom thus far?
Whether I stop her or just skip chapters...if anyone can give a general run down, that would be great.
She’s on the verge of death, so she’s upset that she can’t spend her time with her family for the remainder of her illness. I think generally it’s tradition for the princesses of the country that inherit this disease to kind of love a life of idleness until their passing. She’s also upset because Enoch lied to her, and then wouldn’t answer her letter requesting his honesty and earnestness because she was willing to give them a chance. It seemed at the time like he was forcing her into the marriage, regardless of whether she cared for him or not, and not taking her opinion into account. Later on she finds out it was all a misunderstanding! It’s actually pretty good and she does repent. Tbh the relationship between the emperor and his empress later on is way more compelling of a toxic read for me, so if anything, hold out until you get to them. (≧∀≦)
