Maybe whether she is happy being the empress??

probably.... he has learned through lizzie that the role of empress is an enormous role to fill so now that he is in the past he wants to know if his mother is the same as lizzie. Considering when he came back he honesty didn't think he could or had the right to give her the happiness she deserves. It was already too late to break off the engagement and especially with the way that the trash parents treat her. he is not sure if it was because of the role of empress doomed her to unhappiness or thing just in general.
I think when he gets the answer back of whether his mother could actually find happiness in her role of empress would make his choices a lot more firmer in regards of his goal to make lizzie happy.

All the novel chapters have been taken down ┗( T﹏T )┛ but I will try to give you some from what I found out:
-way to swap body is suicide
-they both attempt suicide multiple times
-ML actually liked FL but had some weird inferiority complex
-when he starts swapping bodies with her he realises how hard her life as been
-he thought he had been providing well for her and that she was overreacting when she said her life is hell, but actually she never received anything he sent for her (I think he in-laws were involved with this)
-at one point she thinks she's pregnant and ML accuses her of infidelity since his clan is known not to be able to have kids(?) With others
-turns out her fake pregnancy symptoms were because of a drug in-laws were giving her and when the fake doctor was chased out the new doctor revealed this
-Violet had enough and asked for divorce from ML, but he said she can only divorce if she pays back the 27 million he spent on her
-after the fake pregnancy she decides to just leave and tries to run away, but ML stops her and asks how they swap bodies
-Violet shoots herself in front of him and when he realises she must have attempted suicide so many times since they swapped bodies, he realises how bad her situation really was and is mentally shattered himself
-after that, he lets her go and she moves to a countryside (?)
-ML is very shattered and thinks he will leave everything in her name and kill himself, but for some reason he is unable to die(?)
-when he attempts suicide everyone thinks he's dead and Violets brother tries to force her to marry again because he actually lived off of the money ML gave violet(?) While pretending he was farming to earn his keep (so that citizens would like him)- what a scum ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ
-ML not actually dead and he asks Violet to reconsider divorce, and she says she never actually wanted to
-they have 2 kids, and when ML learns about her first pregnancy he cancels his business trip (surprising because he always said his time is too precious), so they actually love each other now

No worries! ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶ and I only managed to read the first few chapters of the novel before it was taken down, but I think ML was at least starting to improve (not sure about in the long run though! Some of the stuff he does in the spoilers is just too much tbh but lol we can hope ╥﹏╥)

...sad to think that this is all a dream or wish after she died at 45. Like some sort of wishful thinking of how her life might have been. That the 'dreams' are her actual life.

Damn that's a good plot twist there. I think it'd be bomb if it ends like that. Bad endings are unforgettable after all
