I happen to love the development on this story, the fact that it is not about a "love story" but about a person who is gradually growing up makes it unique. Yes, having sex with another person soon after he broke up with the guy seems harsh, but he is in his whole right to have sex and date whoever the fuck he wants. And also, the hugos words are not fucking sugar coated lies. Why the fuck would he stay in a relationship were he doesn't feel confortable, just because it males the other person happy?? Self-care is not selfishness, he SHOULD be caring about the way he feels in a relationship because his feeling MATTER. Whatever the reason, if you are in a relationship yet you feel guilt, regret, anger or any constant bad feeling towards your partner, it is not ok. What Jamil did was grow a pair and confront the hugo about his feelings, he did something right. Staying in a relationship were you don't feel comfortable is the base to every toxic relationship, sure the hugo may never hurt Jamil intentionally, but Jamil was hurting himself by staying with him while feeling like literal trash.
