So I've read this twice, and all these comments I see are hating on main couple. In particular, the hate I seems to be directed towards Jihan. I think all these characters are terrible in some way and I'll break down why.. This is my disclaimer if you haven't read the story. This comment contains SPOILERS!
I understand why you hate him and YES HIS ACTIONS ARE INEXCUSABLE (the rape, the salking, the verbal abuse, and the controlling). However instead of going on his knees and begging Jaeun to come back or even asking Jaeun to forgive him, HE LEFT AND UNDERSTOOD THAT HIS ACTION WERE TOXIC. I don't know about most people but having the consciousness to say or even think "Oh I'm the bad one here I need to leave and before I do something worse" is enough to tell me that Jihan has human decency and has the ability to change.
And for those lift Jaeun like a saint, i just want say when it come to miss communication. The prize belongs to him. He didn't tell him what was happening or at least the truth. In a relationship its important to have OPEN AND HONEST COMMUNICATION BETWEEN BOTH PARTIES. If Jaeun explained who he was or was honest about who he was meeting then maybe the abuse would have at least been toned down. Then after he left he just threw himself on the ground and looked everywhere for Jihan. This behavior is so unhealthy and his codependency latched on to the closest person next to him and that was Siwon.
Don't even get me started on Siwan. I get that Jaeun on the first meet didn't explain that he was already in a relationship. I get that this was the first time they ever met in a long time. He needs to understand that NO MEANS NO. "I don't want to see you" does not mean "I want to see you later" It doesn't matter if you are written in the stars or that it's destiny. Understand that another person's wants and needs are so important in any relationship, especially when you are meeting up with someone who you haven't seen in a while. You don't need to see them, you don't need to touch them, you just need to hand them your number or even a card and say that you want to communicate with them in the future while BEING CLEAR OF WHAT YOUR INTENTIONS ARE. From there, if that person in particular comes back and tries to initiate something, THEN GO FOR IT!
The ending also didn't do it for me, I need both Jihan and Jaeun to go to couples counseling and separate therapy before even coming back to talk to each other. Jihan needs to learn how to cope with his trauma the whole situation between his parents. Jaeun needs to get over his trauma and get help with his codependency. Both need to learn how to communicate with each other better, plus understand what they can control and what is out of there control. I am glad that Siwan realized that Jaeun did not want him and was able to move on. I just wished that he realized this sooner and was able to make his own but Jaeun's codependency is what led him on so.....
In conclusion, Mingeon was the only character with enough sanity to see through the situation and give Siwan genuinely good advice even if it did benefit him in some way.
