Keep in mind this has all happened within like one day:
- lau finds out mali & yajin betrayed him
- gets punched & breaks a few of his ribs
- finds out alex is in a coma & its apparently xin’s fault
- finds out his friends lian & wei are basically killing his crush (who is also THEIR bestie)
- xin says that he knew the entire time (so he basically just toyed lau along)
- xin says that he hates when lau cries & calls him foolish or something
- Xin then burns their contract (the thing that ties them together)
- Wei comes and hits him on the back of the head to knock lau out
- and then the last thing lau sees is wei & xin together so he probably thinks they’re working together and they were just playing w/ lau the entire time.
No wonder he looks so shellshocked poor guy

Notice how Miu actually listened to Lau when he said he wanted to come back and didnt undermine his emotions? Very demure, very mindful (unlike a certain someone cough tan cough)
im so mixed on miu and tan, they're flawed people due to their upbringings but they're also well written, at the same time its a bit frustrating to watch them because their actions also directly contribute to xin and lau's own traumas
