I don’t know much about them or have really read of their stuff but it’s the “revenge/ deserved” rape that makes it seem like the author doesn’t want to be put on blast for enjoying non con because it’s “justifiable”. As a psychological enjoyer these stories are a joke and an excuse to write rape porn so I wonder why they even bother making a stupid plot for their porn

So basically anyone who actually believes this is meant to be psychological is getting played. Well at least they see it as it is ig, their art is incredible so they could’ve just made some generic yaoi and it would sell like hit cakes

Firstly, the author and illustrator are different people. The artist has just become the “abusive yaoi” lady after the Sadistic Beauty side story lol. Anyways, the author specifically said they wanted to write a story that catered to their tastes. I don’t know if there was some hidden agenda packed alongside the fetish porn or not, but I do think it’s important to note that it IS a pornographic story. Can porn be artistic and have depth? Sure. I could debate all day long about whether or not this was intentional. The series provides some very bleak (and likely unintentional) meta about male passivity in the face of sexual violence, and the way that rape has no gender or sexuality because it is literally a weapon of subjugation. And I actually think some of the psychological elements are done well. At the end of the day, I think Reverse Thinking/Revenge has some effective psychological themes, but people who think that they’re not reading a porn story are very, very confused.

I agree with you to an extent. Personally I hate when writers reduce the depth of complex topics, specially if the topics include psychological aspects. In my opinion, this series is nothing more than fetish porn because it barely makes an effort to scrape the surface of said themes, that’s why it angers me to think the author or readers would make it out to seem like it’s something it’s not.

I guess not. But if it's not that deep, then the outrage over it wouldn't be that deep either. (And maybe none of us are as enlightened or inherently more moral because it's fucking mangago lol.) I don't care that much about how "tastefully" people portray things because if art isn't subjective, we would all be watching Bubble Guppies or at least interacting with porn that doesn't cause as much emotional fatigue. And that's probably because I've subjected myself to gratuitous rape and abuse in these stories lol. One of my favorite bl's that emphasizes class struggle, racism, homophobia, and bureaucratic corruption gasses the absolute shit out of a character who's a homophobic rapist. I wouldn't say it 100% comes with the territory, but a lot of people's fetishes start coming out in their art, even when they have something semi-meaningful to say.

It’s not even about it being done “tastefully”, a story like this could be as crude as it wants to be but it could do that without it taking away from the actual theme. It honestly has a light hearted take on assault (male passivity or whatever) yeah mc got the shit beat out of him and got his asshole ripped but he’s still moaning and secretly enjoys it or some shit. It honestly seems like it’s not even affecting him as bad as it should. I’m not even angry about the assault, that doesn’t anger me because everyone knows it’s wrong. What is upsetting is how the writers and artist glorify it. If this story gave a shit about being psychological it’d at least fucking try being more realistic, how does mc not have shit both times they fuck?? How the fuck is he not getting hemorrhoids?? Why does he still think the male lead is pretty after he literally raped him?? Why? Because it’s porn it doesn’t even take itself seriously. Sure it’s “art” but that doesn’t make it fucking good

Not only that, this series does more harm than good with its assault themes. It gives the idea that “oh rape is not that bad if the rapist is handsome!” “rape can actually feel pleasurable! So if it feels good, was it really that bad?” “Just get over it, it wasn’t that deep”
You could argue individual’s experience assault differently, but if the themes you believe are done “effectively” are overshadowed by brain dead porn then who gives a fuck

I don’t know if you really care about spoilers but the male passivity I was referring to becomes pertinent later when Soohyuk, the brown haired fellow, finds out about Jiwook’s rape and stays silent about it out of fear of rocking the boat. I’m assuming you’re referring to the recent chapter when you say that the story is making light of rape? I think Jiwook himself as the narrator has a very skewed perspective on rape and doesn’t believe it can keep happening to him, thus he keeps getting played by Juyeon. I don’t necessarily agree with all the tonal shifts, because I feel like that’s just the author and artist trying to inject levity in the beginning of what is a very depraved and depressing story when there’s no point—considering how shit hits the fan immediately. And in any case, Juyeon drugged him with that ointment. I don’t think they convey it very well here, but it’s an aphrodisiac. Jiwook doesn't know what’s happening to him. YES, it absolutely is a vessel for more noncon porn. But it’s still consistent with what everyone has been shown, where Juyeon butters him up with physical pleasure and gifts after horribly violating him. (Juyeon’s 10-year-plan is kinda crazy like that.) I will say, one thing I kind of agree with most people on is the collective facepalm readers did when Jiwook went right back to being bamboozled by Juyeon’s looks IMMEDIATELY after being viciously raped. I know the author wrote him to be dumb as hell, but Jiwook tends to go full lobotomite sometimes. Idk! Some yaoi protagonists are stupid. Anyways, it’s absolutely not a perfect story. I do empathize with people who hate it and have a visceral response to it. I’m not afraid to say that there’s almost nothing redeeming about it. But sometimes degenerate grimdark porn sucks you in and makes you start thinking and then you’re left with a very strange and miserable boner. It’s like 177013 for fujoshis.
