i dont tend to shy away from stories involving heavy subjects like rape, violence, trauma, abuse, etc, but goddamn the way some authors gloss over them. i mean, if that's what you deem necessary for plot advancement and maintaining the intrigue of your readers, fine, but... maybe handle it a bit more tactfully? or just, you know, realistically? legit the first chapter and the friend's reaction to his best buddy confessing to him that he was RAPED and is now PREGNANT is to goof on him for not being too attractive. the joke is whatever, but like, really? is now the appropriate time? and im just starting out with the story so i can only imagine where we go from here.. also just the whole set up of the leads' romantic relationship is a bit much for me. as i said, i dont shy away from this sort of thing as long as its done realistically and responsibly with respect to the subject matter it's choosing to portray, but as is usually the case with yaoi, we just kinda downplay the hell out of it. and i know its sort of ridiculous for me to search for logic here but sue me for hoping anyway, what i so desperately wanted to say is that hosik's whole story is based on a romance that somehow blossoms out of possibly the most traumatic fucking scenario i could imagine. rape is horrific as it stands, getting pregnant as a result of it is fucking unthinkable. but on top of that, hosik is also turned into a freak of nature (with the whole men can get preggo wtf ew thing) and his identity and sense of self is probably decimated as a result (or rather, it should be, but this is yaoi and people dont act like people). his body is violated on three different, emotionally devastating levels, so the odds of him developing a legitimate romantic relationship with his rapist out of this should be rightfully nonexistent. really, he should end up killing the guy, or at least attempting to. but ive only read the first couple chapters, right? there's still hope, right? lol who am i kidding? typical rape to love with a dash of mpreg story, here we go!
