This is another reiteration of the horrible "ugly duckling" stereotype with some mixed body positivity messages-"ugly" person is treated badly until suddenly becoming beautiful after makeover and gets treated better as a result.
Seven years ago, way back when this webtoon was first published, as a teenager I really liked it. I was in (and still am) into nerdy stuff like niche comics and games, and I, too, was horrified of what others thought. Looking back at this manga I can't take it seriously because of the not-so-great themes being tell to the audience. I feel pity for our main character's arrested development, and honestly, the decent art and cliche romance plot line doesn't really cover up what the author is trying to convey.
