I dont remember if its before or after, but she ends up getting sick again. Fl and the son go on to look for a cure and they mend their relationship. Story ends with a happy mother nd son. But side story starts with showin the ML side, and how much he loved the FL but never was able to communicate it. He nd the Fl start to mend their relationship nd in the end the four of them live happily together as a completed family. Yes... four... they have another child, a daughter, who the love deeply.
