An oldie but a goodie. A really really goodie. Seriously such a sweet, funny, and romantic story. I was so invested in both of the pairs’ lives and development—but the younger pair stole my heart. They’re seriously so funny and heartwarming, Yoshinaga sensei really knows how to write heartfelt and funny stories.
Also, the sister was such a gem in this. The whole scene where the narrator asks her if she’s happy really made me smile.
This is just a feel good and sweet manga all around, I can’t recommend it enough!
So good. You can tell the creator writes other stories outside of strictly BL romance—this has all the trappings of a good thriller/horror and doesn’t fall into the usual pitfalls that many do in BL. Succinct story that has a solid ending, no needless drama, and a good balance between sexytimes and scarytimes.
I particularly liked that scene in the movie theater where the guy dies in the background while they’re getting it on, it was done in such a good way, bc as a reader I felt exactly as distracted and uncomprehending as the MC.
Incredible all around, one of my favorites for sure.
Harada’s was really so good…”if we were happy then this story wouldn’t be possible” as a reflection of women and their treatment in BL stories. Ugh, she always knows how to hit me in the gut, and write fun ladies I enjoy reading about.
I really liked this anthology in general and its exploration of women’s role in BL. It’s something we don’t often think about since they’re usually plot devices without personality. Good stuff all around
I know so many people don’t like Yamadera but honestly I love him as a love interest, he’s so unique and refreshing from most BL I’ve read—this entire story is super unique. He’s terrible little dick who’s so much fun to read about and I for one can’t wait to see him inevitably humbled and grovel for the MC hehe.
I think his whole backstory is going to be interesting too, his desire to become a vampire seems to be driven from past helplessness during childhood abuse and his power complex does too…if he’s better than everyone and everyone is weaker/not as important to him then they can’t hurt him etc…I love him sm!! So interesting
Dang what a heavy ending, and a fitting one. I feel like the story is trying to say something about the nature of love—by making it so the seme’s weenie was blown off after raping him, by making it so that the Uke became a monk who is supposed to abandon sexuality in exchange for “divine adoration” from god…I think the point is that love is pure and unsullied or whatever, and a separate thing than lust etc…like they made it work despite the pain and shit in the past once the burden of eroticism was removed. Interesting stuff.
Shit, man. This was one of the most stunning BL works I’ve ever read. It’s raw, it’s human, and it doesn’t shy away from equally highlighting the lovely, flawed, and painful parts of what it means to love someone. I love stories where a meteor is coming to hit the earth and this just checked all my boxes. I honestly I don’t get why everyone is just hating on the seme without ascribing any nuance to the story, he was shitty but he absolutely changed and came to love the uke. So, so beautiful. It really made me appreciate life.
I actually really liked the main couple and their dynamic! It was pretty realistic for the situation they were in and the lifestyle they led—practical, subdued, utilitarian. In a world like theirs I kind of appreciated that the love reflected the setting and its values rather than the sort of overwhelming passion seen in a lot of BL. It isn’t a dynamic or style I think I’d seek out, but it really fit the story and the 2 MCs in my opinion, and made it a refreshing and interesting read.
