I get frustrated when people in the comments for this manga start talking shit about the story because the guy cheated in the past. I’m not a fan of it at all in books and it’s normally something that would make me out the story down but the story literally wouldn’t have been as good or worked thematically without it. The whole thing is about regrets and misspent time, right? People regretting how they’re spending their last days before a meteor hits, people regretting not being present for someone who was depressed, etc etc…like the whole thing is centered around making amends and moving forward and healing despite those regrets because, ultimately, the world doesn’t end and you just keep going and do what you can to live better in the future. The ML having regretted his behavior, changed, and essentially built a stable future for the two of them via the house really plays into this theme and is done really well.
I remember reading this when the first chapter came out--I was in high school and now I'm in a PhD program. This remains one of my all time favorite BL, and the ending only solidified that. It's so unique and isn't afraid to center on heavy or atypical topics, and learning that it's essentially part of one giant never-ending cycle is just fantastic. Props to the mangaka, excellent job.
I love how deranged Cesar is lmao, it’s kind of hard to find stuff where characters are like completely balls to the wall apeshit and the story doesn’t try to work overtime to be like “actually here’s why this is actually normal behavior + tragic backstory to justify why he’s like this”. Yeah he had a rough life but Roses and Champagne just embraces that he’s an untamed freak with a comically large ween and it’s refreshing—especially too because Lee Won is such a dry and stubborn protagonist. He’s a yandere through and through and it never tries to convince you otherwise lmao
I'm saying lmao, everyone talking about his flaws but I absolutely love how much flaws he has and how fucked up he is lmfao like he cares yes but he also kinda does not. There's a reason why he's fiction, ofc irl stay away from the mafia and men that stick a bullet through you (back hole and front bod)
I'm gonna be honest I felt really frustrated and sad when people started hating this and when they said like tsar is so terrible and non redeemable ( he kinda is... Nope he is ) but still think about his life before the one showed here bro was assassinated since he was a kid did you expect him to still be soft and empathetic to anyone?!
And they hated leewon for staying
Maybe that's because he'd rather have a crazy batshit tsar who won't leave him alone
Than someone like his father who left them without an explanation and left his mother hanging or maybe his just crazy I love idk maybe the dck was too good to pass! Human nature is complicated there are so many types of mentality
Every couple of years I go back and reread this and it’s just as good every time. It brings me back to like 2016-17 when this, Killing Stalking, and Blood Bank were basically the only translated BL manhwa at the time. They were all the rage because they were intense and in a new format, and I was following those as they released. At the End of the Road is such a fun, shamelessly melodramatic (in the best way!) story that has all the trappings of the subgenre. It’s like the ultimate BL—transmigration, bullying, and childhood friends, oh my! Maybe it’s just nostalgia talking but I get so smiley every time I reread this. The MCs’ dynamic is so fun and I really like that it touched on the dysmorphia and psychological effects of what body hopping would entail. IMO, ignore the hate comments if you haven’t read it and just give it a go—it’s a whole bunch of fun. I’m honestly kind of shocked at how many there are because this was considered like a masterpiece at its time lol, but I guess trends change and younger folks come in with different opinions. Still! It’s a lot of fun
I bet you 800 billion dollars their annoyed neighbor is the neighbor from Yatamomo
