Truth or Dare
OMFGG THIS MANHWA IS SO WELL WRITTEN! The plot and concept of the whole story is so original and the writing, character development, backgrounds, plot twist – everything was chef’s kiss. It did a great job exploring the concepts of morality and perspective.
It made me reflect a lot on what is actually true and what is a lie. Is the truth a fact? Or if we believe something is true, will it become the truth? If we believe “deception” is the truth, then is it the truth? Lmaoo it had my wheels turning the whole time, and even if I was confused sometimes, I think the author did a good job in making everything as clear as possible.
The concept of truth being deconstructed by the ML was brilliant, f the absolute truth is a lie, then every spoken word is truth. He is a very interesting character and the way he made philosophy out of everything was rlly amazing. Everyone in that world (especially in ours too) doesn’t question our thought and beliefs but he kept doing it and doubting them which caused him to lose himself. I think that was also one of the reason he was asking the MC to find him. But while asking MC to find him, he’s also hiding himself.
And omg when they switched - although ML became a dare, he couldn't stop lying all the time, even lying to himself because that’s they way he always loved his life. Plus, living life as a false made him very calculating and manipulative.
And the MC, even when switched he still had the nature of a dare even if he was a false by the end. Duality still exists in his character.
I also loved how dares can be used as a metaphor for a lot of things in our society, especially for minorities like gay ppl, ppl of color or ppl with disabilities. I loved the quote that accompanied the idea - "I want our existence to be normalized. As if we have always been here, so we can become a part of the world."
