The ending was really unexpected! I though Akira-chan and Hime were the couple but plot twist I guess? Actually I'm satisfied with the ending since this shows that love has different kind of love, and even though I thought Hime and Akira would end up together, I still shipped Hime and Harumo... in the end their love wins

As for the prince matter, seeing how the guards are patrolling in the forest and targetting Gaius, meaning they are after beast people ... They are likely the ones who killed Athos.
