**possible spoilers, but mostly just general information that could be understood from reading the first couple chapters**
After reading the novel, I was finally able to come up with a good comparison for this novel. It's honestly a lot like omegavese stories.
Just so we are clear, the novel has dozens of R18 chapters and it's all consensual. Verbal consent.
Many people seem to strongly dislike the ML because of his obsessive qualities. But when compared to Alpha and omega relationships in omegaverse, he isn't all that bad. He isn't violent towards the MC and his strong form of love isn't unique to him. The MC is very possessive in her own way (a self-confident one).
I am now going to explain the most controversial thing in the novel so
*spoiler alert*
Basically most people object to the "royal flower" he gives her the first time they are intimate. To make it simple, it means he can only have kids with her and she has to marry him (basically like a bite mark/bond from omegaverse). While she consents to sleep with him, he doesn't ask her permission for putting the flower on her. Yes, it is wrong of him to do that. However, once he learns who she is he points out that they were going to be married anyway so it changes nothing.
He did it because he didn't know who she was and took the opportunity to claim her. She tells him before that she has a fiancee but seems unhappy about it so he knows that it might be his only chance to claim her (omitted in the manga)
Bottom line: What he did was a dick move. However, he did have one or two reasons (even if they seem like convenient plot points). That being said, he will devote himself to making her happy for the rest of his days so it works out in the end.
This has the components of two of my favorite manga, but so far I'm not detecting the charm of either present in this one.
It's most like (if not based on) this one:

But this one is also similar to this one:

Both of these are sweeter and nowhere near as gritty as this one
The only reason this manga has a high rating is because anyone who cares that it is 100% rape dropped it like a hot potato. I'm just putting this out there for the people like me who aren't into that who might like a warning before reading.
I don't understannd the high rating either....in other mangas everyone yells rape for much less than this, yet here, where actual rape happens, no one bats an eye... There are soooooo many better mangas out there, why this boring cliché with a typycal weak uke and a pushy asshole seme is praised so much? Why is it that always the shitty mangas get the anime adaptation? (Given is an exception, THANK GOD they finally choose a decent story)
The thing about ratings, you can only rate a manga if you keep it in your library. So ones like this with a specific audience get higher ratings than something decently popular with a few flaws. (People who love it will rate it highly and there will be mediocre votes dragging the score down whereas this will only be saved by people who love it and aren't bothered by the content and have ridiculously high scores)
I would still recommend reading this for as long as you can stand it. This is NOT a toxic story, it is just kind of a bummer because I really want the MC to go off and have adventures with just the chibis (spirits). Honestly, I love the MC! He's a cute lil bean that doesn't deserve the baggage that is his harem at this point. The prompt for this story and the world building is nice. Overall, I'd give it a 6/10.
True.. Frick its disappointing that there are the bitches dragging the quality of the manga down.. Its missing that good balance between characters. They just feel like extras hanging around longer than they should. No real attachment from readers for the girls. You just kinda want them gone? If he had travel companions atleast don't make it an all female harem and make proper backstory to the characters and have them be necessary to the story in some way... why pick bothersome characters like princessess that have duties to attend to and 95% surely shouldn't leave the country. Our guy here would do j7st fine with the chibis (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
And I don't hate harems. You just have to do it well. But you can already tell this can only get worse for the harem route of it..
Yeah, even I agree. The manga was enjoyable until the harem characters came into the picture. But that is the problem with most manga with harem, the personality of the girls are portrayed/designed badly; being clingy in an annoying way, Acting stupid/clumsy and turns into a burden. It just ruins the plot...
┑( ̄Д ̄)┍ it cant be helped though... I wish the story would be more focused on the growth of the MC and his chibis... ( ̄へ ̄)
AAhhh I love this!!! all I thought about was why doesn't this guy leave these problematic girls behind. Or the girls leave this guy who clearly tries to get away from them go... like I love the concept and the art but one of the "trops/Tags" just doesn't belong here for the plot to flow smoother. It sucks because I really wanted to stick around and see what happends to the MC but I'm getting too emotionally drained by these girls and must drop this manga it's killing the vibe of it all. (TOT)
Yeah, that’s why I hate most anime/mangas with harems because seriously.. it ruins everything. I don’t even care about fanservice or anything like that like some guys who are reading for that. It ruins the story. So sadly dropping this because I don’t even want to bother with it
Oh but I honestly understand but it's like without them he would be captured, thought of as a bad person or also gravely hurt since currently he can't use magic.
