This series is perfect as it is without being shounen ai, it's not focused on the romantic aspects and relationships for the main characters. Honestly i get why you could find her annoying since she seems and may have been introduced like a typical timid and pure heroine love interest in shounen stories at the start cuz i thought she was gonna be so too when i first read. But trust me, her character gets so much gracefully developed later on in the story where we see more in-depth of her mentality so pls don't hate on my beloved sangah-chan
