Ido - abandonment issues due to parents divorce and a lack of affection throughout his childhood. Knows about polyamory but just the physical nothing emotional. Keeps GW around because GW lets him do whatever he wants to him and wont leave. But Ido feels if they start something then it solidifies an inevitable end i.e. abandonment. Maybe truely starts to like GW during the pool incident.
GW - Ido groupie. Followed him around and stuck beside him during highschool because of pity but also Stockholm Syndrome. Developed feelings because he figured he's the only one who understands Ido for his whole personality not just popularity and nice guy. Unstable upbringing and slight abandonment issues. He shows character growth though.
Jin - curious bystander interested in their relationship because everything else bored him. Developed an attachment to his study subjects. He is initially interested in GW for staying with Ido despite the abuse. Finds Ido interesting because of his need for validation and the whole "leaving my mark". Jin wants to leave his mark to.
From what i see to Ido, Jin is a mental and physical anchor and GW is an emotional one. Ido can talk through his behaviors with Jin but Ido heals his emotional turmoil with GW. For GW Jin helped him grow more confident mentally to be able to communicate and speak his opinions and thoughts. Ido helped GW feel needed. For Jin the others provide entertainment that isn't a constant bore. He has an affection for them by being the lynchpin that watches over the system.
I disliked the sex scenes because the tops werent attentive to the concerns and needs of the bottom. Jin was wrote as a nurturing type but ultimately was still focusing on self gratification (common theme). I found it interesting how the author showed the background for each character and the development of bringing them together. I loved the relationship development of GW and Jin during their alone time and how Jin helped GW face uncomfortable conversation instead of running. I liked how the author brought in jealousy that happens with poly relationships and doubts. I loved the growth arc of GW confronting Ido and self reflection of them from past to present. Jins character though still felt unfinished we need more not sure in what areas but definitely about what gaps he has that the others fill. I found it funny how both GW and Jin were stalkers. jin more so but not a violent one.
