Actually majority of manhwas DO follow the original novels lmfao. It’s super rare when they change things from the novel to the manhwa. They mainly do it to prevent readers from being upset.
And idk why you’re including kdramas- which are entirely different. Kdramas are the only exception where they change a lot from the manhwa.
No literally I was saying this before!!! Almost every manhwa follows the novel to a T. The only differences is maybe they'll take out a phrase or too if it's too niche. The only exceptions I've seen is when the author is part of the process and wants to retcon some stuff in the beginning.
And personally for me it's why i don't watch k dramas based on webtoons cause I expect it to be the same. I literally dropped Marry My Husband on episode 1 cause they revealed something to early for my liking.
Lol righttt. I feel like kdramas like to make a ton of changes and make the story more “nice” for new viewers. Examples of just a few kdramas that have changed many scenes: marry my husband, extraordinary you, true beauty, nevertheless.

They actually changed the entire ending and portrayal of characters. The kdrama made it so that it’s the typical cliche, mc is a great girl who ends up changing the player. And they end up together happily.
In the manhwa, they don’t end up together and show a realistic ending. The manhwa portrays every character as flawed, including the mc. The FL even ends up with the 2nd ML too, while the player repeats the cycle of his messy relationships.
Crazy thing is, they villainized the gf of the player/ML in the kdrama to justify the wrongs of the FL. In the manhwa, the gf was a nice girl who the FL just met for the first time. FL got jealous that the player ML seemed to change for her- so made a shady comment, “he likes it when your hair it tied up.” Which resulted in the gf breaking up with him, ML being mad and the cycle started again. In the kdrama, they made the gf seem rude so they made the FL have an excuse to say that and ppl for her to be happy she said a “comeback.”
One of the most popular manhwa’s out there changed from the novel - suddenly became a princess one day. And you know you’re reading this illegally right? What right could you ever have of being upset hahaha
Keyword is “one” and also I literally couldn’t give af about that story, it became boring part way through lmao. If it weren’t for the art style, I can guarantee the plot wouldn’t be enough for it to get popular.
