I agree with fainting because this isn't the first time the author has misdirected with a cliffhanger. However its plausible to think that'd he jump because he is the reason his niece and Sister jumped feom that very tower and the prince said if he was sincere about his apology he'd find an appropriate punishment to show (I.E- meet the same fate he forced on them)
