MC isn't black haired on this one tho

I feel like a lot of gay people dislike how yaoi is portrayed because there are heteronormative traits when it comes to chara design (girly uke), prominence of rape and lack of consent, and just unrealistic portrayal in general. Honestly, it made me feel guilty that I love reading yaoi and seeing 2 hot men end up together. HOWEVER this made me think a lot of things like:
1-1. Shoujo mangas also portray unrealistic romance. HOWEVER, I do know that its a very large category, and alongside the ricidulous ones, there are good stories.
1-2. To counterpoint the one above, there is also the fact that homosexuals are a minority, and is already being largely misrepresented in media. In addition, there is a stigma surrounding it. Many people are very ignorant, narrow-minded and unaccepting. They see gay people in a negative light. This might be the reason why bad representation of gay content in fiction deals a heavier blow to its reputation over bad "straight romance" fiction.
2. This point is a counterpoint for 1-2. In the end, BL and Yaoi are all fictional, and anything that happens in it might not be true to whats in real life.
I feel like this is where awareness, as we are humans bearing intelligence and the skill of reason, should take place. We all should be able to discern what's fact and what's fiction, and we must all be conscious with the line in between.
Anyway, this is just me talking to myself. I encourage replies. I wish to have a fruitful and lengthy discussion from fujoshis and fudanshis alike, from straight people and gay people, even aliens can join in.
I'd love to read what you guys think.

me either, like how these yaoi normalize rape just bc they're close, friends or whatsoever.
when i started to know that sex must be consensual, i automatically switch to another story whenever the uke or seme did something sexual that doesn't have consent, like i don't care about how good the storyline is. not trying to be a saint here but it's not my type of yaoi.

I've debated a lot of people about fiction and reality so I've gotten a bit tired of it.
I just don't care anymore. It doesn't hurt the LGBT+ people I know personally and that's good enough for me.
I don't like when people ruins the things I enjoy with arguments like it's problematic or bringing real life issues into it.
I read to escape reality. I watch movies to escape reality. I play games to escape reality.
I know the difference. I don't bring fiction into real life issues either. I like to keep it separate.
It reminds me too much about how people blame violence on video games. It's fiction. Let people enjoy things as long as they don't take inspiration from "problematic" things they've consumed from fiction and commit crimes or harrass people.
There. A longer answer.

I didn't expect you ro answer, lol! My comment wasn't intended to offend you/demand a longer answer from you, and honestly i kinda got about 25% of your longer answer from your singular 'No'. I thought, "Well, this person probably doesnt care what others think, and just enjoys what they like to enjoy." and im relieved I looked at it positively.
Anyway, I do agree w/ your main point in ur last paragraph. The problem with people is mixing fiction and reality together when fiction is fiction for a reason.
Looking for a manga!! I forgot the title, I read it a few years ago. The story went like - at the start, the MC wakes up on the floor, and his best friend is straddling him. (They were drinking or smth). The best friend had curly hair and glasses. There’s mutual pining, but more on the best friend’s side. MC has black hair. Pls help me, i cant find the story ToT
Additional info: The glasses guy (MC’s best friend) is the uke. Black-haired MC is the seme. The glasses guy used to(?) not touch//refuse skinship with the MC because he gets caught up with his feelings easily.
nvm, found it after an epiphany. the manga is ore no shiranai murakami kun.
